Christopher Wheeldon's Ghosts has only improved with age since I last saw it in 2010. With its gorgeous score by C. F. Kip Winger, Ghosts conveys abstract truths about relationships, desire and longing without ever hitting a wrong note. Winger's music mines an emotional depth similar to Ludovico Einaudi's best work, the perfect complement to Wheeldon's open and alive choreography.

The Ballet's orchestra under the baton of Martin West sounded exceptional during the entire program, especially during Ghosts.

Different forms of absence resonate through each of the works comprising Program 3 of San Francisco Ballet's current season. Whether that's by design or just fortuitous I don't know, but the entire program succeeds tremendously
